   Welcome to Te Awamutu

Te Awamutu is a town of over 9000 people. Set in rich dairyland 30 kilometres north of the King Country. One of Te Awamutu’s historical treasures is the St John’s Anglican Church (1854), set among the evocative headstones of a colonial graveyard.

The town’s first public school (1879) now houses Te Awamutu little theatre. You can also visit the Waikato Railway Museum which is dedicated to the days of steam.

Te Awamutu’s celebrated rose gardens, with 2500 bushes of 80 varieties (blooming from November to May) are visited by 50 000 people every year.
